RAILWAYS
It is fair to say that rail travel has seen a few issues, before, during and post covid and here in Blythe ward we have access to rail travel via various stations Solihull , Whitlock end , Earlswood , Wythall and Widney Manor stations.
Blythe Ward Councillor Ken Hawkins sits on the West Midlands Rail Executive (WMRE), a not-for-profit company, which is owned by local authorities in the region. They are democratically run and accountable to elected representatives, and act on behalf of people in the region.
The board does not own or operate the trains but want to maximise the...
NHS 106 SUBMISSIONS
Section 106 funding supports NHS services by requiring developers to contribute towards healthcare infrastructure impacted by new housing developments.
Cllr Kenneth Hawkins and myself have mentioned previous our plea for the NHS to seek more substantial sums to address the extra demand in primary and secondary care that will arise through more development. One big complaint from existing residents is that, if its difficult to get a doctor’s appointment now, then what will it be like when we have more people moving into the area? This complaint is well made and it is fair to state the...

Protecting Solihull – Neighbourhood Plans
At last nights Council meeting Cllr H Delaney ( Conservative ) proposed a motion regarding the importance of maintaining the funding enabling local decision makers to produce their own Neighbourhood Plan. Without this funding the cost becomes prohibitive and weakens local communities voice to shape the Local Plan.
This is a strong motion and received cross party support for the Conservatives, Green Party, LIb-Dems, Solihull Independents, and Independents. A great example of parties working together.
Blythe Ward will be directly effected by the new Local Plan and any layer of protection...
Planning Update – Meeting with Solihull Council
Cllr Richard Holt and I met with Solihull Planning Officers to discuss the new Local Plan and the numerous proposed and speculative developments affecting Dickens Heath and Tidbury Green.
We fully understand the Government’s pressure on the Council to allocate more housing in the new Local Plan. However, any sites included must be sustainable, protect the most valuable Green Belt, and follow good planning principles under the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF).
Land West of Rumbush Lane
As follow upto video posted on 18th June
We have been advised by Rainier Developments that leaflets will be distributed to properties within Tidbury Green this week.
As you will notice from my video, my concerns are many around sustainability and the fact that Rumbush Lane is a country Lane.
Objecting to Planning/Developments
We thought this may be useful for residents to know more about.
Anyone can object to a planning application, it does help if the objector has connections with the site concerned. We have seen petitions signed by people objecting to applications in the ward who live abroad!
